Browser-based compressor: This tool performs a basic structural optimisation of your PDF — it works best on text-heavy and vector PDFs. It does not re-compress embedded images. For heavily scanned or image-heavy PDFs, the size reduction may be small or zero. Your file is never uploaded to any server.

About This Browser-Based PDF Compressor

This tool attempts to reduce the file size of your PDF by performing a structural optimisation — removing redundant metadata, normalising the PDF structure, and using object streams. This approach works well for text-heavy and vector-based PDFs such as digital documents, exported reports, and word processor PDFs.

Why Some PDFs Won't Compress Much

PDFs that are primarily scanned images (e.g. photocopied certificates, printed and scanned forms) store content as embedded image data. Compressing that image data requires server-side reprocessing. A browser tool cannot safely decompress and recompress JPEG images embedded inside a PDF without a significant quality reduction. We believe in being honest about this limitation rather than faking results.

What Types of PDFs Compress Best

  • PDFs created by Word, Excel, Google Docs or LibreOffice
  • PDFs exported from websites or online portals
  • Invoice or report PDFs with mostly text and simple graphics
  • PDFs with embedded fonts that have redundant metadata

What Types of PDFs Won't Compress Much

  • Scanned documents (marksheets, certificates, Aadhaar card scans)
  • PDFs that are already optimised
  • PDF portfolios or presentations with many embedded images
  • Password-protected PDFs (these cannot be processed at all)

Alternatives If This Tool Doesn't Help

If your PDF is scanned and does not compress well here, consider printing it to a PDF again using your operating system's PDF printer (Windows: Microsoft Print to PDF; Mac: Print → Save as PDF). This can sometimes reduce file size by rebuilding the PDF structure.

Practical guidance for PDF Compressor

Reduce PDF file size with basic browser-based optimization. Works best on text-heavy PDFs. PDF tools are useful when a portal expects one clean upload, a smaller document, or pages in a specific order. JaldiDocs is designed for everyday Indian document workflows where a small mismatch in size, format, page order, or file weight can cause an upload to fail.

Privacy and accuracy note

The tool runs in your browser wherever possible, which means your file is processed on your own device instead of being uploaded to JaldiDocs. Official requirements can still change, so always compare the output with the latest instructions from the website or organization where you plan to submit it.
